Holiday Party & New Year’s Eve Outfit Care in Fort McMurray
Before a holiday party or New Year’s Eve, try on the outfit you actually plan to wear. That gives you time to spot a mark, a loose fastening or a fit problem and ask what can be done before your event.
Start With a Complete Outfit Check
Put the pieces together, including shoes, intended underlayers and accessories that affect fit. Sit down, walk and reach while wearing them. Check seams, hems, buttons and zippers, then look over the collar, cuffs and other areas you may have missed after the last wear.
Make a short list of what needs attention: a mark to assess, a crease, a repair or an alteration. You do not need to choose the cleaning method yourself. Bring the garments with their care labels and explain your concerns so cleaning, pressing and fitting needs can be discussed together.
Cocktail Dresses and Party Outfits
For a dress fitting, bring the shoes and underlayers you intend to wear. Explain whether the concern is length, straps, the waist or how the dress feels when seated. Mention any part of the fit you want to keep. If your shoes are still undecided, say so before agreeing on a hem length.
Bring detachable belts, wraps or other pieces involved in the adjustment. Ask which changes are possible with the dress’s seams, lining and trim. Our dress alterations service includes an assessment of the actual garment; a photograph or dress size alone cannot establish the work needed.
Suits, Shirts and Sweaters
Try a suit jacket with the intended trousers and shirt. If you plan to wear a sweater beneath it, include that layer in the fit check. Bring the relevant pieces to a suit alterations assessment and show what happens when you sit or move, rather than requesting a size change without trying it on.
For a sweater worn on its own, check the cuffs, neckline and any marks before the event. Leave the care label attached and mention previous washing or treatments. Ask about cleaning and pressing for the particular fabric instead of assuming every piece in an outfit needs the same service.
Point Out Sequins, Beading and Loose Trim
Show us attached decorations, loose beads, delicate overlays and any damaged areas when you drop the item off. Bring the maker’s care instructions if they are separate from the garment. Mention repairs or alterations already made, including decorations that have been reattached. The garment and its embellishments need to be assessed together before work is agreed.
Confirm Availability and a Collection Time
Give the actual event date and the day you need to collect the outfit. Mention travel or an earlier party if either changes that deadline. Call (587) 276-2998 to check availability and current holiday hours before making a special trip.
Ask whether the requested cleaning and alterations can both be completed in the available time, and whether another fitting is needed. Agree on the work, estimate and pickup timing with the store. Keep time for a final try-on with the same shoes and layers; our fitting checklist helps you prepare.
After the Party, Tell Us What Happened
Point out spills or marks when you bring the outfit in, even if they are faint. Tell us what caused them if you know, when they happened and anything already applied or tried at home. That history helps with the assessment; stain removal cannot be promised before the garment is examined.
