Can You Bring Already-Clean Shirts Just for Pressing?
Yes—ask Sunshine about pressing your already-clean shirts. Tell us they have been cleaned and that you are asking for finishing only. Bring the shirts and their care labels so we can assess the request and confirm the price and collection time. A crease is different from a collar mark or an item that still needs cleaning.
Pressing Only or Cleaning and Pressing?
Pressing addresses the finish of a garment. It is not a substitute for washing or dry cleaning a shirt that is soiled. If you washed a shirt and then packed it in a suitcase, explain that sequence. If you wore it afterward, or a collar or cuff still has a mark, mention that too.
Sunshine offers shirt washing, dry cleaning and pressing at our Eagle Ridge store. Specify the work you want for each item rather than assuming that asking for a shirt to be “done” means the same thing to everyone. Our dry-cleaning process guide explains how cleaning and finishing differ.
Keep the Care Label Attached
A label that permits washing does not settle every question about pressing. GINETEX’s care-symbol guidance distinguishes ironing instructions from washing and professional cleaning instructions. Its ironing guidance says to follow the garment’s care label rather than choose heat from the fibre name alone, and calls for caution around decorative applications.
Point out a no-iron instruction, a steam restriction, a print, attached patch, delicate trim or an area that is already shiny or damaged. If the label is missing, tell us; do not guess a heat setting from a photograph or a “cotton blend” description. The whole shirt needs assessment before a finish is agreed.
What About a Non-Iron or Easy-Care Shirt?
Bring its actual instructions. A product description such as “non-iron” does not mean you should request the same treatment for every shirt with that wording. For example, Brooks Brothers’ guidance for its non-iron shirts describes a crease-resistant fabric treatment and gives care advice for those products. That is manufacturer-specific guidance, not a rule for all brands or permission to ignore your shirt’s label.
Tell us what bothers you: suitcase creases, the collar’s appearance or a sleeve line, for example. We can discuss that request with the shirt in front of us rather than promise that every crease can be removed.
Five Details to Give at Drop-Off
- What has already been done. Say whether the shirts were washed at home or professionally cleaned, whether they have been worn since, and any earlier pressing or treatment.
- Which items need which service. Count the shirts and identify any item that still needs cleaning or stain assessment. Point out collar, cuff and underarm marks instead of grouping everything as “press only.”
- The finish you want. Explain any sleeve-crease preference or particular area of concern. Ask what is suitable and available; a preference is not a guaranteed result.
- Anything attached, loose or fragile. Mention decorative parts, loose buttons, damaged seams and missing care instructions before work starts.
- The date you need them. Give the day and, if relevant, the time. Confirm the collection arrangement before relying on it for work, travel or an event.
A Mixed Shirt Order: Say What Is Different
For example, you might bring three shirts: two washed, unworn shirts with packing creases, and a third that was worn and has a collar mark. Ask about pressing the first two and cleaning plus finishing for the third. This is an illustrative request, not a package or a price. It gives the counter team a clearer starting point than treating all three shirts as the same job.
Keep the garments accessible for inspection. There is no need to remove care labels, take off attached decorations or try a hot iron first to prove that a crease is difficult.
Ask Before Your Visit
A useful message is: “I have three already-clean dress shirts that need pressing. Two are cotton and one has a printed logo. I can bring the care labels, and I need them for Friday afternoon. Can you assess them and confirm the cost and collection time?” This is an example you can adapt; it does not reserve a collection slot.
Send the item count, care-label details, remaining marks and your required date through our cleaning and pressing enquiry form, or call (587) 276-2998. For an urgent request, call before dropping off. Estimates are free, and the store confirms pricing and timing after assessing the items.
Or bring your shirts to Sunshine Dry Cleaners & More, 129-375 Loutit Rd in Eagle Ridge, Fort McMurray, beside Tim Hortons. We are open Monday–Friday, 9 am–6 pm, and Saturday, 10 am–5 pm.
